Description
This anatomical illustration demonstrates the tortuous vasculature of the uterus. The uterus is supplied blood via the uterine artery and drained by a prodigious plexus that drains into the uterine veins. Nearby, anastomoses of the uterine vessels with the ovarian and vaginal vessels are observed. Few illustrations complete the story of the vasculature of the uterus by including the myometrial arcuate arteries with the progression and disintegration of the spiral arteries over time. The ureter is shown nearby for surgical reference. The broad ligament is also shown.
