Description
The colon was laparoscopically removed from a young patient with chronic constipation. The lymphatics of the mesentary were spared.
A series of sketches were created from the procedure. Consultation with the surgeon provided insight into the difficulty of the above step – retracting the appendix and divided ileum to start the division of the colon from the mesentery. The final drawing was outlined with pen and ink, scanned into the computer, and digitally painted in Adobe Photoshop.
