Lab Schematics 2019

Description

In March 2019 I officially joined the Grayson Lab as a freelance medical illustrator. By working with students one-on-one, I can help solve their specific problems when communicating on a broad scale. Schematics have been used in textbooks, presentations, review publications, grant applications, and journal covers.

Notable works

1 – Development of the Neuromuscular Junction. Formatted for slide presentation to quickly educate a highly professional audience on the developments of the neuromuscular junction, from embryonic to adult. The key change was showing the adult ‘pretzel’ morphology, which most illustrations of the neuromuscular junction fail to show. However, this is a key part of the student’s research of engineering neurons with this critical morphology.

2 – Muscle Graft integration into native tissue, shown at 3 levels of scale. Vascular and neuronal integration is key. Graft vasculature is shown in green.

3 – Electrospinning the Microfiber Bundle. Illustration of the design setup to emphasize the changes in scale while fabricating a scaffold. Additional stem cell seeding is shown.

4 – Schematics of muscle vascularization and graft types.

5 – Common study sites of volumetric muscle loss defects in animal models. Mouse model is expanded to show sites more clearly. Variation is muscle morphology is also shown.

6 – Clinical Design Waterfall of BiO2-Bone.

7 – Advanced Healthcare Materials Cover. Digitally painted cover showing undiffereniated stem cells interacting with growth factors to become bone matrix producing osteoblasts.
